7 Quick Tips to Rebalance Your Life!

There are only so many hours in the day, and you have much to do. It's hard, isn't it, trying to figure out how to get all the important things into your day? No wonder it's easy to start feeling like you're not in balance. 

Thankfully, there are some quick things you can do to help fix the feeling everything is spiraling out of control. Rebalancing is just a matter of paying attention to what you're doing, as you'll soon see. 

Don't believe it? Try these things: 

Make a Daily List

What's important to you today? What things do you need to get done to be healthy and happy on all levels? Bonus points for keeping the list short and ensuring you address work, social, and health needs. 

Picture It

Science shows visualization works. If you can picture yourself living your best, well-balanced life, you'll be more likely to succeed in rebalancing yourself. Visualization is pretty simple. Find a quiet place to think about what you want. Be sure to layer in all the details you can. 

Create a Mission Statement

Why do you want to live a balanced life? Understanding your motivations for these efforts will help you stay on track. Crafting a mission statement will give you something to focus on, which you can use to re-energize yourself when you need an extra burst of inspiration. 

Step Back

If you're having a hard time feeling like you're making progress rebalancing, a little perspective might help. Try looking at your life like an outsider might to get a feel for how things are going. You might be surprised at how far you've come. 

Check with a Friend

If stepping back isn't quite working, then ask an outsider. Talk to a good friend who knows the person you were before you started and understands where you are now. Ask them for your honest assessment. 

Build Your Team

Speaking of friends, why not enlist a support system from friends and relatives who will be on your side as you strive to rebalance yourself? Having a source of constant encouragement whom you check in with often will help you stay excited about what you're doing. 

Rewire Negative Messaging

Unfortunately, society tends to give us a lot of mixed messages about what we 'should' be doing throughout the day. Your boss will convince you that work needs to be your priority, while the media will have you think you should be doing it all, like some superhero. Instead of listening to outsiders, concentrate on what you need personally. Draw boundaries and practice saying no. Most important, though, is the ability to turn off inner messages that guilt you for not doing 'more' and instead learn to tell yourself, "This right here is enough."
